Harvey Buchan Educational Bursary Program

The Sault Ste. Marie Construction Association introduced the Harvey Buchan Educational Bursary Program in 1993, following the passing of Harvey Buchan.

Mr. Buchan was a Journeyman Carpenter by trade who purchased Samson Construction Co. in 1972. He was a dedicated supporter of the Sault Ste. Marie Construction Association. He filled numerous roles for the Sault Ste. Marie Construction Association over the years and was also committed to the Provincial Industry. He served as Director of the Construction Safety Association of Ontario, the Council of Ontario Construction Associations and Ontario General Contractors Association.

The Bursary strives to recognize qualities of volunteerism, peer support, commitment to fellow man, and dedication - all qualities that made Harvey a respected leader in this industry.
