Contractor Sales Coordinator Soo Mill and Lumber Company Limited

2 positions available: - 1 x 6 month contract with possibility of contract extension - 1 perm. position

Location: Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

We are currently seeking a sales associate to join our Contractor Sales division. This position reports directly to the Manager of Sales and Contract Operations at our Sault Ste. Marie location. This position is a key part of our overall store function and thus a close working relationship with our contractors is essential. The selected candidate will be provided with an opportunity for individual growth as well as building their team effectiveness skills.

Responsibilities and Duties

  •  Provide contractor sales services - co-ordinate contractor orders as to delivery, inventory status, etc. and answer queries concerning installation, substitutes, return of excess material
  •  Interpret customer blue prints, drawings or sketches in order to price quotations. Prepare estimates and proposals. Present to the customer
  •  Receive and accept regular customer orders, check accuracy of information concerning amounts of material, delivery data, etc.
  •  Prepare sales invoices for cash or credit sales and arrange for delivery. Receive all delivery tickets, assess the needs of each, check for discrepancies and arrange for delivery
  •  Maintain job files and correspondence on active and completed projects. Ensure accurate sales recording
  •  Visit job sites to determine customer needs, assess concerns or queries. Attend off-site meetings
  •  Provide frontline support at the Customer Service desk when necessary

Qualifications and Skills

  •  Minimum of 5 year sales experience in a relevant industry
  •  Strong knowledge of Commercial and Residential building construction. Ability to interpret the Ontario Building Code
  •  Experience estimating required. Experience with or ability to learn estimating software’s
  •  Possess a strong understanding of how to read and interpret blueprints
  •  Familiarity with all types of building materials
  •  Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
  •  Customer focused and results driven
  •  Superior math skills More about the Position
